While electronic dance music continues to surge in popularity globally, DJ’s are an increasingly hot commodity and are earning record high paychecks. It pays to develop your talent spinning in the DJ booth, as the highest paid DJ, Tiësto, earns around £160,000 per night. Some of these ultra hip, in-demand, DJs started out playing at weddings and sometimes now they are even convinced to DJ weddings of their celebrity friends. Check out this list of the most famous wedding DJs to inspire your wedding planning:

Mark Ronson

This highly paid celebrity DJ in his own right has produced many mega-hits for Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse and Robbie Williams over the last decade. He was asked to provide the entertainment at Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes romantically decadent Italian wedding in 2006. Maybe this gig wasn’t the highlight of his career, especially considering his other big successes that year, but he praised the happy couple for creating a good, sweet vibe at their nuptials. Rumour has it that Ronson’s jams had Tom Cruise doing cartwheels across the dancefloor!

Elijah Wood

This Hollywood favourite of both fangirls and critics alike agreed to DJ the wedding of his friend and True Blood star Anna Paquin when she married her costar Stephen Moyer in 2010.  Paquin found out about Wood’s DJing skills when he DJed cast and crew parties during the filming of their 2010 dramedy The Romantics. But the Paquin-Moyer nuptials were his first real venture into the role of wedding DJ, for which he, of course, received rave reviews.

Dane Bowers

This controversial and cheesy pop star and reality TV star is also well known for his regular DJ sets in many hip locations within the UK as well as the holiday club scenes of places like Ibiza. In 2010, Bowers was asked by his ex Katie Price to DJ her wedding to new beau Alex Reid in order to create a fantastic tabloid spectacle. Not all wedding ceremonies have the purest intentions.

Calvin Harris

The Scottish singer, songwriter, and producer has a record number of UK top 10 hits and he continues to capitalize on this success by DJing weddings? Well, yes, actually. That’s about right. Formula One billionaire Bernie Ecclestone’s daughter is tying the knot this summer in Cote D’Azur and has booked Harris as the DJ for what seems like a record paycheck of £320,000. Not that he’ll be the only source of entertainment, as it is rumoured that Jennifer Lopez and Lionel Richie will also be performing. I guess such a world-renowned party merits a world-renowned DJ at the very least.

Wedding DJs

No doubt these celebrity wedding DJs threw good parties and hyped the energy of the happy couple’s big day. Did they effectively announce the cake-cutting, garter toss, and the couple’s first dance? Not sure that was in the contract, but the guests surely appreciated the high-caliber entertainment to dance to. And the bottom line is that wedding DJs set the tone and are an absolute must for high-quality receptions that keep family and friends talking for years.
